PET-CT with PSMA

In addition to the PET-CT with Choline, Ars Medica, located in the heart of North Rome, now offers PET-CT with PSMA, an advanced imaging technique for diagnosing prostate cancer.

This innovative method is used to diagnose prostate cancer or, for those already undergoing treatment, to detect any early recurrence of the disease and identify potential metastases, even when PSA levels are low.

The procedure involves the intravenous administration of a small dose of the slightly radioactive PSMA drug. After a necessary waiting period for the radiopharmaceutical to distribute throughout the body, images are acquired. Following the examination, there are no restrictions on resuming normal activities, except for adherence to specific radiation protection guidelines, which will be thoroughly explained by the Nuclear Medicine physician.
