Critical Care Services

Anesthesia – Resuscitation – Intensive Care

The Critical Care department at Ars Medica is organized into various sections, all managed and closely integrated within a service whose primary focus is safety and the prevention of complications across other therapeutic areas (surgical, medical, and diagnostic), both in routine and emergency situations.

Anesthesia

The anesthesia service operates 24/7, with at least two anesthetists available on-site or on call.

Anesthesia Clinic: Assesses surgical risk for scheduled procedures according to national and international protocols and guidelines. Patients or their guardians (for minors) are informed about and provide consent for general or loco-regional anesthesia.

Operating Rooms: Equipped to meet the standards and technological requirements set by national scientific guidelines (SIAARTI). In addition to six operating rooms, the anesthesia services include:

Assistance in Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology

Installation of devices for medium- and long-term drug infusion (particularly required in Oncology and Pain Therapy)

Resuscitation and Intensive Care

Resuscitation: Provides active monitoring and is dedicated to critically ill patients with acute conditions and/or post-operative care for complex, high-risk surgical procedures. The care is multidisciplinary (cardiology, infectious diseases, nephrology, pneumology, internal medicine). This area includes two beds in an isolated environment with a “filter zone.”

Intensive Care: Consists of seven additional beds for patients requiring medium-intensity care, connected electronically to the continuous monitoring system of the Resuscitation unit.
